Our spot on the beach

Gotta love that tooshie!

Amazing how the ocean is the same color as the sky.

Good Morning, Hawaii! (day 4)

Good morning, Soph! I think Sophie woke up before 6am this day. Uncle Scott looks tired! He walked her around the beach and watched the sun rise with her. This was our nicest day! The sun was out almost all day, and we spent the whole time on the beach!

Whoops!

That's better.

There was a lot of military activity going on that morning. Cargo jets flew over us 4 or 5 times.

Knight Rider in Hawaii!

Emmalee's 'Uncle Scott'

I read before leaving for Hawaii that on any given day at Turtle Bay Resort there will be a film crew shooting something. Many commercials have been shot here, and also the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Well, sure enough, Knight Rider was in town and filming just steps from our villa! The cast and crew were staying at Turtle Bay Resort and we watched them film at the nearby beach bar, Ola. They had huge lights set up that lit up the ocean, giving us a unique view of the ocean that night, it was beautiful.

The 'set' at Ola Restaurant and Beach Bar
They had a lot of the cast dancing as if it was a nightclub on the beach. But what we thought was so funny is how they would play dance music for about 10 seconds, and then turn the music off, however the cast continued dancing with no music! Looked pretty funny.
Tylor watching them film Knight Rider. We took turns spying with binoculars.
Here are the shots I got of a scene they filmed (over and over). Looked like Knight Rider stars Justin Bruening and Deanna Russo were arguing and then Deanna Russo storms off....

Free entertainment for the night!

Hawaii (day 3): Dole Plantation

On Thursday we stopped at the Dole Plantation on our way down to Honolulu to visit our friends Mary, Mel and little Cora. We did a little shopping at their huge gift shop, we ate lunch (which we don't recommend) and we fed the koi. Feeding the koi was one of the highlights of our trip. They go crazy! Before feeding them:

While feeding them - you'd think they're starving! But it was very funny, they were flopping all over the place, splashing us trying to get their one pebble of fish food. The koi were huge. A photo of Ty and the Koi pond:

Growing chocolate!
Cute baby pineapples!
The plants only grow one pineapple each.

We learned that not only is it illegal in Hawaii to pick pineapple, but if you are caught, you will be arrested and slapped with a $25,000 fine!
